  “Twilight Cove” Esperance
I decided to make a diptych of
  this scene because the scope
  was just too big for
  one small piece.
  The colour of the water
  in Esperance is astounding-
  with every shade from yellow
to green to blue to purple.
I don’t see that kind of sea
  colour in Bali.
  The contrast of the purple
  daisies, growing wildly in the
  foreground made
  it all the more attractive.

   Blue Flowers
In spring, the state of Western Australia bursts
into flower. In this case, growing alongsid of
the road somewhere a long way inland of Esperance,
when we were on our way back to Perth from a trip.
It seems to me that enormous crowds of enthusiastic
florists have been everywhere planting bouquets of
flowers into the ground. At any other time of the year
this scene would look very dry and barren.

    “Purple Flowers” Kensington
The little star flowers grew around
Maddington, where I grew up. I love the
way the colours vary from light to dark
purple petals, and yellow to orange inside.
