鴉啼いてわたしも一人
In unison with Hosai Koji's haiku:
The cawing of a crow -
I also am alone.
* Hosai was a haiku poet who belonged to the same school of free haiku originated by Seisensui Ogiwara. Santoka and he knew of each other but never met. Hosai
wrote many poems of his loneliness and the above poem is in unison with his famous haiku:
Even coughing -
I am alone.
