Nyoman Wirdana was born in North Bali, Indonesia in 1976. In 1996 he studied painting with the artist/teacher Retno Tri Joko in West Java for two years. He returned to Bali in 1998 to study with the artist Sugito. Both of these teachers were students of the famous Indonesian artist, Dullah. They gave Nyoman a solid foundation in art; landscape, portrait and still life. He also studied with the artist Pranoto in Ubud, and has been drawing the model at Pranoto’s Art Gallery for many years. Nyoman has exhibited in group and solo shows in Bali, Java and France. Currently, he is exploring the subject of flowers in the medium of oil on canvas. He has found an original style in a textured technique, combined with a strong composition and colour harmony. An exhibition of his work was held at Pranoto's Art Gallery from July 1st to 30th 2010, entitled "Flower Power" with Kerry Pendergrast. |
